DAVID MENDIZÁBAL — pronounced da-veed — is a director, designer, producer, and the Associate Artistic Director of Berkeley Repertory Theatre.
They are one of the Producing Artistic Leaders of the Obie Award winning The Movement Theatre Company in NYC, and a founding collective member and former Associate Artistic Director of the Obie Award winning The Sol Project.
They are committed to a practice rooted in social justice, radical inclusion, and anti-racism. They believe in creating with community and their artistic vision is shaped by core values that celebrate joy, authenticity, and love.
David attended New York University/Tisch School of the Arts at Playwrights Horizon's Theater School and has directed and developed work with Berkeley Rep, Baltimore Center Stage, Mosaic Theater, Roundabout Theatre Company, Soho Rep, Long Wharf Theatre, and the Magic Theatre.
They are a Princess Grace Award Honoraria Recipient in Theater.
